Summer is over, the kids are back in school and we are about ready to begin another great baseball season. I usually do not do things like this but this is something that has become near and dear to my heart. Last year my niece Avery, who is 8, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). As you may already know, T1D is a difficult thing to live with. It is a life threatening disease that never goes away. It breaks my heart to know that my niece has to live with this for the rest of her life. All I can do is hope for the best and do my part to raise awareness and funds so that the JDRF can continue their efforts to cure, treat and prevent T1D.
I just registered for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes and accepted the challenge to raise money for JDRF. The Walk draws people together in a healthy activity for a worthy cause. At the same time, it raises money to improve the lives of every person affected by type 1 diabetes by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D.
This year's Walk takes place on October 14, 2012, and I'm writing to ask for your support. Now more than ever, EACH of us can make a real difference in the lives of people with T1D.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $150.00 by visiting my personal fundraising page and making an online donation. Donating is quick, easy and secure! However, if you would prefer, you can mail your contribution to the address listed below. Make your gift payable to JDRF, and please put my name in the memo field.
